Brytyjski projektant przemysłowy Robert Dudley Best (1892–1984) – współczesny Walterowi Gropiusowi – zainspirował się stylem Bauhausu.
Dzięki purystycznemu, ponadczasowemu i eleganckiemu wyglądowi lampa stojąca BL3 pasuje do wielu współczesnych stylów wnętrz.
Pierwsza lampa z serii Bestlite, lampa stołowa BL1, ze względu na swoją wysoką funkcjonalność była początkowo stosowana głównie w warsztatach.
Korzystała z niej również Royal Air Force.
Stała się sławna jako lampa biurkowa Winstona Churchilla i dziś jest uznawana na całym świecie za ikonę ekskluzywnego wzornictwa.
Bestlite znajduje się w kolekcjach Muzeum Wiktorii i Alberta oraz Muzeum Designu w Londynie.
Seria lamp Bestlite jest produkowana przez firmę Gubi od 2004 roku.
